Sun Dappled

The sun dappled water almost matched  my jeans.  I thought it was fitting, but you can bet my family busted on me for wearing leopard print jeans in the Adirondacks.  At this point, I'm used to questioning looks at my outfits!

In anticipation of cooler temperatures when the sun went down, I kept my favorite pink striped shirt close at hand.

Can't beat spending an afternoon lakeside with the family.

Amber Waves

I spent a fantastic weekend up in the Adirondacks - catching up with family and cooling off from NYC's brutal summer.  Wearing long sleeves (let alone a sweater!) felt novel.
The sunshine felt so nice, warm but not too hot.
I packed mostly just my favorite pieces and mixed and matched.

Soho Afternoon

I ventured into Soho on a hunt for a very specific pair of shoes this past weekend.  Unfortunately, I came home empty handed, but it was fun to wander around and peruse the shops none-the-less.  After a super hot couple of weeks in the city, I'm looking forward to heading out of the city for a long weekend tomorrow night (I'm packing as I write this!).

Breezy

Using the remnants of an old dress that didn't fit quite right, I made a super easy and comfortable skirt. The flower pattern worked quite nicely with a casual grey tee for the weekend.  It was super hot again, so I kept accessories to a minimum.

In retrospect, I might advise to think twice about wearing a short, flippy skirt on a breezy day!

Docksider

My getaway of choice during the warmer months (or any month, really) is lake-side in the Adirondack north country.
My hair remained a pretty big mess the whole weekend.  It's hard to escape the windblown look when you're gong from from boat rides to car rides with the windows down.
The weather changes pretty quickly up here so I always make sure to have easy layers.  Vest layered over tank, layered over bathing suit with a long sleeve shirt on hand (just in case) did the trick nicely.
I love how the sweet scalloped hemline of the shorts work with the edgier ombre dip dye-job.
Bright flats were a nice departure from flip-flops.  They're also much more convenient when it comes to chasing my four-year-old niece around in the grass!

I'm already counting down the days until we can get back up there!

Heat Wave

We are experiencing a pretty brutal heat wave here in NYC.  Even I, someone who prefers the warmer months to the cooler, am finding it pretty rough!
In an effort to keep cool, I kept my outfit super simple - lightweight swingy top and easy shorts.
I just found this top on super sale - though it's pretty sweet and girly, the sheerness keeps it from being too sweet.
The slouchy cut of the shorts work nicely with the shirt.
Keeping things easy and breezy!
With my hat keeping the sun off my face I was almost comfortable.  Hah!
