Criss-Cross

Summer has officially hit in NYC.  Which means I can officially pack away all my cold weather layers and warm jackets.  I love a fun tank that with an unexpected twist.  The open back feels a slightly cheeky. Though I definitely do have to keep an eye out for sudden wayward breezes!

Last Ray

I was able to catch the last (very) few rays of sun after work.  It's been really nice to have daylight later in the evening, and lately I've been seeing flowers and trees just about to bloom.  It won't be much longer now before I can loose the hat and tights.  I'm looking forward to it!

Classic

There are certain items that will never go out of style - the classic trench, a crisp denim shirt, and black pumps are just a few of those items.  I decided to pair these pieces with a few colorful accessories for a super easy weekday look.
This scarf offers the perfect combination of bright and neutral colors.
The pink necklace peeking out from under my collar is actually a DIY project.  I had an vintage rhinestone necklace that I didn't wear very often, so I added a couple coats of neon pink nail polish to the rhinestones.  I love how the color gives the necklace a whole new look!
I've been on the look out for a dark denim shirt for a while now.  I haven't found the perfect one yet, so I borrowed my husband's which I found to work out quite nicely.
Trench coats always look so sophisticated and lady-like.  The leather trim on this specific trench adds a bit of edge as well.

Roadblock

I broke out some bright colors to take full advantage of the bright sunlight and washed out colors of the Florida surroundings.
Hot pinks and warm reds really popped against the sun-bleached road.
After spending the day switching back and forth between pool and ocean, an easy bun was about all my hair would put up with.
The flower pattern on this skirt feels both chic and girly.
Sitting by the side of the road didn't feel too dangerous - I was pretty easy to spot!

Cerulean

We leave for a quick getaway to the Florida Keys tomorrow.  I broke out this cerulean blue dress in honor of the clear blue ocean water that we'll be enjoying shortly.
Since it's not quite sleeveless dress weather here in Brooklyn, I layered a sweater on top.
I tend towards oversized sweaters, so belting helps give a bit of definition.  The sweater and belt combo has been my go-to all week.
I've been taking full advantage of the neon trend this season and switching back and forth between my neon yellow belt and my bright pink one.
Since the collar of the dress just peaked out above the sweater I decided to forego a necklace.

I am very much looking forward to a getaway!

Queens

This past weekend, we took a quick day trip out to Connecticut to visit family.  On the way back, we stopped by the Queens Museum to see the current show featuring a couple pieces by artist (and good  friend) Palden Wienreb.
We took advantage of the last bit of sunshine to snap a few pictures in the park outside the museum.
This is my new favorite belt.  It's a bit hard to tell, but it's neon yellow.  The perfect little dose of neon for any outfit.
A bright blue bag and red shoes added a nice touch of color.
Somehow I managed to match my lipstick perfectly with the flowering trees!
It was nice to get out of the city and be outside on such a beautiful day.
