Camo

I'm a big fan of hats in general and this one is right on trend this season - baseball style and camo printed.  The hat works easily paired with a simple sheer blouse and grey jeans.

Falling Forward

San Francisco's cool temperatures were certainly a departure from NYC's hot and steamy weather.  I actually had to add a layer and change from sandals to boots!  It was a nice reminder that Fall isn't too far off.

Taking full advantage of a short trip I went straight from the plane to sight-seeing.  This meant comfortable layers.
I look forward to pairing this blazer with pretty much everything.  I love how the different colors work through the geometric pattern.
It's colorful, but not too loud.
I kept everything else pretty simple to highlight the jacket.
I'm looking forward to stocking up on more basics - like this blazer - in unexpected colors and patterns for Fall.

Batter Up

Nothing like a sequin t-shirt and pair of killer heels to spice up a baseball diamond.  Luckily the field was empty otherwise I would have gotten some pretty questioning looks.  Practical? Not exactly.  Fun? Definitely!

Construction Zone

You can't go wrong with simple layers.  It ended up being significantly warmer than I had anticipated so I had to ditch my rain jacket.  Luckily by the end of the day the rain had stopped.
My sweater worked to brighten up the dark jeans and button down.
I love how the bright coral color works against the taupe in the sweater.  Such a fun combination.
The long button down shirt offers a bit of coverage but the sheerness keeps it from feeling overwhelming.
Red, patent wedges?  Don't mind if I do.
A simple outfit kept interesting with a few pops of fun color.

A Short Story

After a slew of rainy and overcast days, it was a real relief to get some sunshine.  It warmed up just enough to break out some shorts for the afternoon.
I layered a blazer over a lightweight sweatshirt to ward off chill - it got significantly cooler in the shade.
I love the details on this blazer - the exaggerated lapels and waistline.  The give a pretty basic piece (a black stretch cotton blazer) a bit of edge.
I've been looking forward to taking these shorts out since I put them away at the end of last summer.  The super classic style gets a major kick from the bright neon pink color.
It's so nice to see some green in my surrounding these days - now if only the sun would stay out!

Spotted

We found this amazing wall on the side of a gas station while out for a walk around Brooklyn.  It just happened to compliment my outfit perfectly!
Bright colors pop so nicely against shades of grey.
I  recently rediscovered this pin, I made it years back from a hairband.
My pink belt did a nice job of breaking up the greys.  I got these leopard print jeans from Target - not only a great deal, but also a great fit!
As the days grow warmer and longer, I switched over to a lighter colored bag.  The large size fits everything I need for a whole day out and about.
I still can't how interesting this wall is - we just happened upon it by chance.  It's one of the best things about living in this city - you can round any corner and find something beyond cool.

Rusted

Just when I was starting to get the hang of Spring it turned cold, grey, and rainy again.  I went for a longer length the skirt to keep my legs warm, but the hemline still allowed for a bit of ankle to peek out.
Instead of breaking out cold weather jackets, I layered a couple of lighter weight ones together and threw on a scarf.
Hot pink nails provided a bit of neon against all the neutral just like the rust on the metal sheets in the background.
I love the slightly metallic color and details in this jacket.  It worked so well agains the army green vest.
This dress was a DIY project from a couple weekends ago.  I can't wait to show off the top when the weather gets nice again.

Back Alley

Taken separately you wouldn't think these pieces (sheer shirt, lady-like sweater, torn up boyfriend jeans, glittery shoes) would make much of an outfit, but, I when I put them together, I found they worked together quite nicely.
This is my favorite shade of red.  It has just a hint of orange.
The sheer shirt peaking out from behind the sweater feels very cheeky.
The oversized, ripped up jeans offer a cool juxtaposition against a lady-like sweater and button-up.
I really like the contrasting silk lining of the sweater - it's all about the details.
We were lucky to stumble upon this bright green wall in a back alley that really made the whole look pop.

Fenced In

On a cold winter day I decided to punch up neutral black, white, navy and grey with a some strategic pops of bright colors.  Even though it's been unseasonably warm for most of the winter, I have to keep reminding myself that spring will be here before I know it.  I find colorful ensembles are a great way to do that.
The cobalt blue bag really punches against the darker navy.
I dug this white skirt out of the back of my closet and have been wearing it a ton ever since.  You can definitely wear white year round these days.
Who doesn't love pink shoes, especially these which are both menswear-inspired and whimsical at the same time.  These are extra special as they're the ones I wore on my wedding day!  I got married in the woods so heels weren't really an option.
The green shirt and pink belt added a dose of bright, almost neon color to the whole look.
It was quite windy day, I had a lot of trouble controlling my hair...and had to be extra careful with my skirt!
