Season's Greetings

Made it up to the North Country in time for Christmas (and promptly changed my shoes, skirt, gloves and lack of hat!).  It's been a true white Christmas - complete with multiple snow sports and lots of food and family.  Here's to wishing you and yours a wonderful and happy holiday season!

Rain Check

Unfortunately, we got rained out of taking pictures last weekend and due to busy holiday (and birthday, happy birthday Sam!) we couldn't squeeze any in during the week.  This photo is from a friend's wedding this past fall.  I was less than inspired when looking for dresses to wear so I decided to make one for myself.  Since the dress is super simple, I added some bright and colorful accessories to keep it fun.

Make Tracks

The colder it gets, the more layers I can wear -- which is fine by me!  Leather jacket season tends to be rather short so I try to get as much action in while I can.  Unfortunately, I think it's drawing to a close quickly.  But with a trusty hat and scarf (and lots of layers underneath) I think I might get in a few more wears.

Seeing Red

I love pairing these pants with easy, classic pieces.  Since bright red pants can be a bit loud so toning them down with white and blue kept things weekend appropriate.
A down vest is the perfect solution for days that are cool but not cold enough for a winter jacket.
I mean...Chanel goes with everything, right?
I've slowly been unpacking my winter accessories - including my favorite red leather gloves.
I have to wear my highest shoes with these pants (since they're so long).  Hidden heels - an excellent trick to looking extra tall!

Such a beautiful day in a beautiful spot.

Sea Side

We made our annual trek to Cape Cod to spend Thanksgiving with family.  It's a nice change to visit the beach without worrying about bathing suits or sun screen.  It was beautiful and peaceful.  A nice long walk on the beach was perfect for working up an appetite.
This was my go-to jacket for the weekend.  Not too warm, not too cold and easy to layer.  The perfect jacket for weather that can't decide if it wants to be fall or winter.
I'm still figuring out exactly how to manage my (not so new anymore) bangs.  It's been a fun challenge. An easy way to change things up without losing overall length - something I'm definitely not ready for!
I layered a sheer polka-dot shirt over a chambray button down.  It made for a subtle pattern play.
The polka dots on this shirt are velvet!  It's such a cool and unexpected 3-D take on an old favorite.
It was great to enjoy a peaceful view before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season set in.

Pale Pleats

This past weekend was perfect fall weather.  Sunny but crisp and cool.  Not so cold that I had to bundle up too much, but I was still able to break out my favorite leather jacket and glove combo.

I love combining thicker sweaters with this super feminine skirt.  It makes the skirt feels a bit more casual and easy.

I couldn't resist throwing on a bit of leopard.  And I love mixing in these grey tights - the heathered grey is a little unusual, but a fun change.

Seeing Spots

We managed to snap a few pictures before work (and before the Nor'easter hit) yesterday.  As I trudged through a couple inches of freshly fallen (and still falling!) snow on my way home from work, I was pretty happy that I'd changed into my winter boots.
This color reminds me of pumpkin pie - which feels very appropriate as we are now well into November.
You can't tell here, but this sweater has suede elbow patches.  I love the detail - it feels very professorial.
I'm not ready to pack these shoes away for the winter.  Adding socks (and having a pair of winter boots close at hand) allows for at least a few more wears.
While I'm pretty excited to have pulled this jacket out from the back of the closet, I have to say that I'm not sure I'm quite ready for winter!

West Coast Revisited

Things on the east coast have been pretty disrupted this week due to Hurricane Sandy so I thought I'd share a few pictures I had left over from our latest trip out to wine country on the west coast.  It was nice to look back at these pictures full of warm sunny days!
The mornings were cool so I made sure to have a sweater on hand until the fog burned off.
But once it did, I was happy that I had worn a cool romper underneath.
I couldn't resist climbing up into this tree.  I was a the perfect shape for lounging.  It didn't look like I was the first to try either!
Sun, friends, wine...I'm looking forward to the next time I have an excuse to get back out there!

Pajamas

Gotta love an outfit that feels like pajamas but is actually appropriate to wear outside the house.  It was perfect for a day trip out of the city to visit family.  It went easily from car to lunch to park adventure without a hitch.

Autumn

It was totally by accident that my outfit ended up perfectly matching my background!  The foliage in upstate New York was absolutely beautiful the last time I was up there.   Can't beat these views!
