Stooped

St. Patrick's Day fell on a Sunday this year -- which means I sort of forgot about any sort of celebration.  But I was pleasantly surprised when as I walked out of the apartment I noticed I was wearing quite a bit of green without even realizing it (I had a green shirt on under my coat as well)! Unfortunately I spent the rest of the day doing less than celebratory things (work and chores and other Sunday sort of things) -- but at least I was wearing green!

Welcome back, Spring!  I'm ready for you to warm up the weather anytime.

Make Tracks

The colder it gets, the more layers I can wear -- which is fine by me!  Leather jacket season tends to be rather short so I try to get as much action in while I can.  Unfortunately, I think it's drawing to a close quickly.  But with a trusty hat and scarf (and lots of layers underneath) I think I might get in a few more wears.

Seeing Red

I love pairing these pants with easy, classic pieces.  Since bright red pants can be a bit loud so toning them down with white and blue kept things weekend appropriate.
A down vest is the perfect solution for days that are cool but not cold enough for a winter jacket.
I mean...Chanel goes with everything, right?
I've slowly been unpacking my winter accessories - including my favorite red leather gloves.
I have to wear my highest shoes with these pants (since they're so long).  Hidden heels - an excellent trick to looking extra tall!

Such a beautiful day in a beautiful spot.

Plaid

I've slowly been reintroducing some of my Fall favorites back into rotation.  I've been looking forward to breaking these jeans out again for quite some time.  Cropped, high-waisted, and plaid - quite a combination and it just works.  Paired them with a simple tee and a few fun accessories and I am ready to go.

Adventures in Remixing

I love the challenge of figuring out how to wear certain items regardless of season it belongs to (I have never been one to do a closet change over each season).  I thought I'd pull together a couple good examples from previous posts to help illustrate my take on remixing.

Dress:
A spring-like dress works for cooler months when you add a pair of warm tights and a blazer.
But it works just as well for summer if you ditch the tights and swap the blazer out for a lightweight denim shirt.

Boyfriend Jeans:
These jeans are my go to when I just want to be comfortable.  Blush tones and layers work well for fall.
Change out the loose layers for a more lady-like sweater and sophisticated heels and it feels like a completely different pair of jeans.

Sweater:
Pairing a white sweater with blacks and greys makes for a simple, super crisp look.
This sweater can work just easily when paired with a maxi dress and bright belt.

Hat:
I love this hat - the possibilities on how to wear it are endless.  One option, mixing patterns, makes for a bold look.
I also loved pairing the polka dotted hat with a polka dotted shirt.  It felt very fun and playful.
I'm a big proponent of shopping in my own closet and figuring out how to give an old item new life!

Roadblock

I broke out some bright colors to take full advantage of the bright sunlight and washed out colors of the Florida surroundings.
Hot pinks and warm reds really popped against the sun-bleached road.
After spending the day switching back and forth between pool and ocean, an easy bun was about all my hair would put up with.
The flower pattern on this skirt feels both chic and girly.
Sitting by the side of the road didn't feel too dangerous - I was pretty easy to spot!

Into the Blue

We made it down to the sunny Florida Keys late Friday and spent most of Saturday getting acquainted with the area and relaxing.
You can walk down a short tree lined path and find yourself on a bright blue dock at the water's edge.

As I get used to the stronger sun down here, I layered my favorite button down over my bathing suit for a little more coverage.

These are my favorite new shorts.  Both ombre and crochet...how can you beat that?
Trying to keep a hold of your hat in the wind can be a challenge - but it's one I think I can handle while I'm enjoying this little bit of paradise.

Jackson Hole

Here are a few snaps of what I wore apres-ski during our trip out to Jackson Hole.  It was sunny but really cold.  I kept things simple by packing some of my favorites - jeans, boots and many sweaters for layering.  This jacket, while it may not be the most stylish, is the warmest jacket I've ever worn, which was necessary in the mountains!
