Hat Head

So Memorial Day Weekend this year may not have been particularly summer-like this year (more rain than sun, more cool temps than warm), but it didn't make it any less nice to get out of the city and get a little closer to nature.
I recently discovered a new lipstick: Revlon Just Bitten.  It goes on like a gloss but stays more like a stain.  My ideal situation.
My solution to not doing your hair on the weekends?  A fun hat!  No, seriously, this hat is sort of too cool for me.
My solution to not really bringing the right warm clothes?  Wearing all my sweaters at once (here I have on 2 wool sweaters and a t-shirt...and I borrowed my husbands watch).
My version of a practical shoe.
Perfect for a walk on a pretty perfect weekend.

Last Ray

I was able to catch the last (very) few rays of sun after work.  It's been really nice to have daylight later in the evening, and lately I've been seeing flowers and trees just about to bloom.  It won't be much longer now before I can loose the hat and tights.  I'm looking forward to it!

Plaid

I've slowly been reintroducing some of my Fall favorites back into rotation.  I've been looking forward to breaking these jeans out again for quite some time.  Cropped, high-waisted, and plaid - quite a combination and it just works.  Paired them with a simple tee and a few fun accessories and I am ready to go.

Jackson Hole

Here are a few snaps of what I wore apres-ski during our trip out to Jackson Hole.  It was sunny but really cold.  I kept things simple by packing some of my favorites - jeans, boots and many sweaters for layering.  This jacket, while it may not be the most stylish, is the warmest jacket I've ever worn, which was necessary in the mountains!

Due North

I only have a few more pictures from our trip up to the Adirondacks over Christmas - between family and food, there wasn't a whole lot of time for pictures.  It's pretty casual up there, more about warmth than fashion.  Warm layers on top and comfortable pants on the bottom.
This scarf was hand-knit by my mom.  She even spun the wool to make the yarn.  She's super crafty!  The bronze pin holding the scarf together is actually a hair clip that my mom just passed along to me.  My dad brought it back for her from his solo motorcycle trip through Europe in the early 1970s, which makes it extra special.
I added a gold belt for a little sparkle in an otherwise super casual look.
So these boots are not exactly practical in the snow...I didn't keep them on for long.

Holiday Pants

When I first saw these pants, I knew I had to have them.  My love of patterned pants dates back to grade school when stretch pants were pretty much all I would wear (I didn't even call them leggings at this point).  And the louder the better.  These days, I generally like my patterned pants to be a bit more subtle, which is why I love these.  And you can't go wrong with Tartan - especially this time of year!
Of course, my pairing with orangy-red accents definitely kicks these pants into holiday territory.
The belt adds the obligatory bit of sparkle.
The super feminine clutch provides a nice, soft contrast to the blues, greens and reds that dominate the rest of the look.
I kept the shoes simple and classic, can't go wrong with black peep toe pumps.
Off to celebrate the holidays in the Adirondacks!
