Last Ray

I was able to catch the last (very) few rays of sun after work.  It's been really nice to have daylight later in the evening, and lately I've been seeing flowers and trees just about to bloom.  It won't be much longer now before I can loose the hat and tights.  I'm looking forward to it!

Season's Greetings

Made it up to the North Country in time for Christmas (and promptly changed my shoes, skirt, gloves and lack of hat!).  It's been a true white Christmas - complete with multiple snow sports and lots of food and family.  Here's to wishing you and yours a wonderful and happy holiday season!

Inspired

It's hard not to get swept up in the Olympics.  This weekend I found myself unconsciously, and rather patriotically, dressed up in red, white, and blue.

I was so inspired watching Great Britain's Mo Farrah win the 10,000 meter race on Saturday.  Such an amazing show of athleticism and sportsmanship.  It inspired me to brave the heat, strap on my running shoes and get out there and complete my own run Saturday afternoon.

Sun Dappled

The sun dappled water almost matched  my jeans.  I thought it was fitting, but you can bet my family busted on me for wearing leopard print jeans in the Adirondacks.  At this point, I'm used to questioning looks at my outfits!

In anticipation of cooler temperatures when the sun went down, I kept my favorite pink striped shirt close at hand.

Can't beat spending an afternoon lakeside with the family.

Amber Waves

I spent a fantastic weekend up in the Adirondacks - catching up with family and cooling off from NYC's brutal summer.  Wearing long sleeves (let alone a sweater!) felt novel.
The sunshine felt so nice, warm but not too hot.
I packed mostly just my favorite pieces and mixed and matched.

Docksider

My getaway of choice during the warmer months (or any month, really) is lake-side in the Adirondack north country.
My hair remained a pretty big mess the whole weekend.  It's hard to escape the windblown look when you're gong from from boat rides to car rides with the windows down.
The weather changes pretty quickly up here so I always make sure to have easy layers.  Vest layered over tank, layered over bathing suit with a long sleeve shirt on hand (just in case) did the trick nicely.
I love how the sweet scalloped hemline of the shorts work with the edgier ombre dip dye-job.
Bright flats were a nice departure from flip-flops.  They're also much more convenient when it comes to chasing my four-year-old niece around in the grass!

I'm already counting down the days until we can get back up there!

Vibrant

Nothing beats a warm and sunny weekend.  My parents came for a quick visit this past weekend and we spent a great weekend wandering around Brooklyn - eating, drinking, and taking in the sites.
Though I tend to stay away from silks in the summer because they tend to be too warm, I couldn't resist combining this vibrant jade green with equally vibrant coral shorts.
Combining red and green is generally reserved for the holiday season, but I found that by experimenting with different shades it doesn't have to feel too Christmas-y.
I maintained the colorful vibe down to my shoes.
After a terribly rainy start to the week, it's nice to think back on a beautiful weekend!

Spotted

We found this amazing wall on the side of a gas station while out for a walk around Brooklyn.  It just happened to compliment my outfit perfectly!
Bright colors pop so nicely against shades of grey.
I  recently rediscovered this pin, I made it years back from a hairband.
My pink belt did a nice job of breaking up the greys.  I got these leopard print jeans from Target - not only a great deal, but also a great fit!
As the days grow warmer and longer, I switched over to a lighter colored bag.  The large size fits everything I need for a whole day out and about.
I still can't how interesting this wall is - we just happened upon it by chance.  It's one of the best things about living in this city - you can round any corner and find something beyond cool.

Cerulean

We leave for a quick getaway to the Florida Keys tomorrow.  I broke out this cerulean blue dress in honor of the clear blue ocean water that we'll be enjoying shortly.
Since it's not quite sleeveless dress weather here in Brooklyn, I layered a sweater on top.
I tend towards oversized sweaters, so belting helps give a bit of definition.  The sweater and belt combo has been my go-to all week.
I've been taking full advantage of the neon trend this season and switching back and forth between my neon yellow belt and my bright pink one.
Since the collar of the dress just peaked out above the sweater I decided to forego a necklace.

I am very much looking forward to a getaway!
