Docksider

My getaway of choice during the warmer months (or any month, really) is lake-side in the Adirondack north country.
My hair remained a pretty big mess the whole weekend.  It's hard to escape the windblown look when you're gong from from boat rides to car rides with the windows down.
The weather changes pretty quickly up here so I always make sure to have easy layers.  Vest layered over tank, layered over bathing suit with a long sleeve shirt on hand (just in case) did the trick nicely.
I love how the sweet scalloped hemline of the shorts work with the edgier ombre dip dye-job.
Bright flats were a nice departure from flip-flops.  They're also much more convenient when it comes to chasing my four-year-old niece around in the grass!

I'm already counting down the days until we can get back up there!

Napa Valley

Hard to believe these pictures are from the middle of February.  I don't think it would be too hard to get used to northern Califorina - the weather or the countryside (or the wine!).
I went for easy layers in springy colors for an afternoon of touring wine country.
It got cool as the sun set so I was happy to have brought my jacket.
I refused to wear jeans as a little girl - but I think I would have had trouble resisting this combination of purple and pink.  I plan on picking up several pairs of bright jeans this spring.
Trusty tote and comfortable wedges were good for traipsing around all day.
Though the vines weren't yet in bloom, the yellow fields made quite an impression.

Dead End

It was super grey out (and freezing cold), so I decided to brighten things up with some colorful layers.
I reworked this dress (last seen here) into a flippy mini-skirt.
Belting my trusty chambray button up over the dress gave some definition.
The colors in the Fair Isle pattern in the sweater picked up the color of the skirt perfectly.
I've had this Foley + Corinna bag for years (in fact the label dates back to when the bags were produced under the Anna Corinna label!).  It's one of my favorites, the leather keeps getting better with age - and it could literally fit my life inside.
I rounded things out with opaque tights and penny loafers.  Warm, easy and colorful.

Oh La La

So the Gowanus Canal is not the Seine...OK, it's not even the East River, but it is right around the corner from our apartment in Brooklyn.  And on a bright, sunny day it can be almost pretty. Almost...
Whenever I wear these jeans, I feel like I'm channeling my inner 1970s-self.  High-waisted, stone-washed, bell-bottomed.
I kept things weekend casual, pairing the jeans with my favorite striped shirt.
And of course, my favorite red cap.
...and red leather gloves
I've had this jacket for years now, it's a simple, wool swing coat, but the inside is a plaid pattern and I love the toggle buttons.
All in all, I felt like I was channeling my inner French girl, simple palette and classic shapes.
