Plaid

I've slowly been reintroducing some of my Fall favorites back into rotation.  I've been looking forward to breaking these jeans out again for quite some time.  Cropped, high-waisted, and plaid - quite a combination and it just works.  Paired them with a simple tee and a few fun accessories and I am ready to go.

Denim on Denim

I'm a big fan of denim on denim.  Though a denim shirt and boyfriend jeans are pretty safe bets on their own, combining them takes everything up a notch.
I stole another pair of my husband's old jeans.  I trimmed the length so you can see just a hint ankle at the bottom.
My neon belt adds a great pop of bright color to break up the blues.
It's finally open-toe-sans-socks-weather and I'm happy to be taking advantage of it!
I chose a tailored blazer to off-set the roomy shirt and jeans.
I am pretty sure Sponge Bob approved.

Vintage Spots

Though I generally shy away from super loud animal print - I have been thinking about a faux fur leopard print jacket for quite some time.  I found the perfect one on Etsy, and finally took the leap.
I love how the collar stands up on it's own - it really makes a statement.
Most of the look was black, white and tan, so this necklace added a nice hint of color.
It's (almost) getting warm enough to think about bare feet and legs.  You can see my tattoo peeking out below the ankle length pants.
I love the bracelet length sleeves and the swing shape of the jacket.  While it's vintage, it doesn't feel dated.
A simple white shirt and black sweater let the jacket shine.

A Walk in the Park

Every once in a while a Brooklyn girl makes it out to Manhattan (on the weekend). This day in Central Park, my location wasn't the only thing a bit topsy-turvy.
Feminine florals paired so sweetly with the ultimate in "boyfriend" jeans: hand-me-downs from my husband.

This sweater is definitely a Mister, but he didn't seem to mind taking a stroll with two ladylike patterns.

Gotta make the socks worth a look if you're gonna show 'em. I loved the contrast between this cozy Fair Isle-esqe pattern and the patent leather shine of the shoes.

Along with mixing masculine vs feminine pieces, I combined a variety of textures and patterns.

A slouchy silhouette with heels and enough color to keep things interesting—it all came together for an easy and playful weekend look.

Fade to Grey

With the days getting shorter, colder and in general grey-er, I took advantage of a beautiful late afternoon patch of sunshine in Redhook.
I layered a cozy sweater and blazer over a party dress to make it a bit more afternoon appropriate.
The industrial factory building provided a perfect contrasting backdrop for a rather lady-like look.
I added a bright necklace for some color and a hand-knit hat for warmth - don't let the light fool you, it was pretty but freezing!
Sticking with the theme, I carried black and grey right through to my shoes - and the garage door and gate!
The skirt caught the light perfectly and really brought out the pattern.
